"Wait, my kid gets access to Spotify?"
Not the way you'd fear. Your kid never sees or browses the full Spotify library. You pick the playlists, albums, and podcasts in the NODI app, and that's everything that exists on the Flip. No search, no suggestions, no surprises. It works with the Spotify account your family already has, free or premium.
Does the Flip have a phone number? Can grandma use it?
No phone number, no calls, nothing public. Anyone you approve, grandma, dad at work, the friend back in Scotland, just installs the free NODI app on their phone. You invite them, they accept, and they can trade voice messages with your kid. Kids message each other Flip-to-Flip.
Does it work in the car, on the plane, off the grid?
Two ways. From the NODI library, you download stories and music to the Flip in the app beforehand (takes a minute over WiFi), and they play anywhere after that with no connection at all. Spotify streams whenever the Flip is online, on WiFi at home, or on the go via your phone's hotspot or the Flip's own LTE if you've switched it on.
Can I use Libby or Audible for audiobooks?
Honest answer: not yet. Audiobooks come through Spotify (a big and growing kids' catalog) and our built-in library, with more content sources planned right after launch. Libby is one of our most-requested features and it's genuinely on the product team's list, but we won't promise a date we can't keep.
Do I have to pay for a data plan?
No, it's completely optional. The Flip runs fully on WiFi out of the box, forever, at no monthly cost. LTE sits there switched off until you want it.Does it work outside the US? Yes. WiFi works worldwide, so it travels wherever you do. On the go abroad, any local nano SIM works too.
What exactly is the 100-day happiness guarantee?
From the day the Flip arrives, you have 100 days to return it for a full refund. That covers all of Christmas morning, on purpose.
