It has never been easier to access knowledge than it is today. With just a few taps, we can unlock a world of information, making it tempting to assume that our children will grow up to be the smartest generation yet. But reality paints a more complex picture.
Recent research reveals that IQ rates are declining in developed countries, and we, as parents, see firsthand that the benefits of new technology often come hand in hand with significant drawbacks. From screen addiction to exposure to harmful content, the challenges of raising children in a tech-driven world have never been greater.
As technologists, engineers, and parents, we constantly ask ourselves: How can we help our children benefit from technology’s potential while avoiding its risks? How can we foster curiosity, creativity, and independent thinking without falling into the trap of mindless consumption?
Parenting has always been an adventure, but today, it’s we face one of the most complex challenges so far: Technology is evolving so rapidly that it may soon surpass human intelligence. At the same time, tech companies whose business model depends on maximizing the time we and our children spend on their apps, are doing everything they can to create subconscious dependencies, and if we’re not intentional about how our children engage with it, they risk becoming passive consumers rather than active thinkers and creators.
We know that there’s no single “right way” to raise children. Evolution has luckily never required perfect parents just present and engaged ones. But our influence and our kids environment are more powerful than we sometimes realize. That’s why we founded NODI: to create solutions for young thinkers that harness the positive aspects of technology while eliminating the negatives, ensuring that children’s natural curiosity and intelligence are nurtured, not hindered.
This blog, Growing Curious , is an extension of that mission. Here, we’ll explore the intersection of childhood development, learning, and technology. We’ll dive deep into the latest research, test new approaches, and share insights that help parents make informed choices. We’ll also offer practical tips and ideas to encourage curiosity, creativity, and growth in our kids - without the distractions of screens and algorithm-driven content.
From now on, we’ll be blogging regularly about parenting, learning, and technology, and we’ll soon launch a monthly newsletter where we curate the most valuable insights and resources. You can sign up below:
We’d also love to hear from you! If you have insights, experiences, or questions you’d like us to explore, don’t hesitate to reach out via our contact form.
We’re excited to embark on this journey together.
